50 THINGS

A 50th Birthday Challenge - 50 things to do between now - my 49th Birthday and the last day of being 50- 21st July 2013.

Completed:-
1. Read Little Women. finished 19/8/11
1. Stay in Portmeirion Village. Stayed in Chantry 2nd to 6th April 2012
2. Read 'Ulysses' by James Joyce on 16th June. Well I read part of it on 'Bloomsday' but admit I cheated as I listened to it dramatised on radio 4 over the course of a whole day. I will read more of it but I think it will take me rather a long time and I haven't got the willpower to read it in one go.
3.Went to Tatton Park Flower Show for 50th Birthday. 22/7/12
4. Stayed again in Portmeirion - this time in the Gate house for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. 1/8/12
5. Got an eternity ring for our anniversary AND
6. A trip in the observation carriage on the Welsh Highland Railway (3rd class not 1st!!) which Katherine decorated.
7. Visited Northern Ireland again, went to Ireland for 2 1/2 weeks!!
8. Went to the Giants causeway. TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!
9. Walked across Carrick-a-Rede Bridge. Wasn't sick!
10. Visited Ballycarry on an incredibly hot day couldn't find graves listed in inscription book :-(
11. Visited Larne found one of the graves but didn't go to other graveyard.
12. Went to PRONI had a very long Thursday there in the day and evening.

I decided my list was rathering boring so have decided to start a new list. This one will list the things I've done that I've always wanted to do as I do them.

At the Olympic  Torch Relay I was handed a leaflet about the 60K challenge. The idea being over the next 100 days before the Paralympic closing ceremony on 9th September, you challenge yourself do to do equivalent of 60,000m ie 60km of walking/running/swimming. So here goes!!

2nd Birthday Challenge completed

Have always wanted to stay in Portmeirion....my favourite has always been Battery but never thought I'd be able to afford it but by a stoke of luck got a very good deal to stay in Chantry for four nights at the beginning of the Easter holiday. To say I had a wonderful time would be an understatement. I was able to wander round all the private bits, wander around the village at night when it is all light up and enjoyed afternoon tea at the Hotel. The children had a wonderful time too, each with their own bedroom and we were able to take  M-I-L as well. The woods and the estuary walk were as idyllic and peaceful as they always are.

Chantry is the most wonderful cottage to stay in. There are 6 bedrooms and sleeps 8/9. The view from the 'master' bedroom with its own ensuite is wonderful, you can see the top of the watchtower from your bed and the whole cottage has panormaic views of the village. There is a small seating area for 2 steps away from the kitchen door as well as a large wooden table that can easily seat 8 in the garden below. The ground floor bedroom opens out onto it's own little terrace where you are shielded from view by an evergreen tree. The lounge and dining room although
